This famous holiday region has something for everyone from leisurely walks to strenuous alpine hikes and from sunbathing to diving or simply relaxing in the large park.

Beatenberg is situated in the Bernese Oberland, in the heart of Switzerland. High above the lake of Thun at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, Beatenberg has a panoramic view of the Bernese Alps. The breathtaking peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau pose against a background of steel-blue skies. The blue and green waters of the lake of Thun sparkle far below Beatenberg. The village still possesses its country charm. Beatenberg has succeeded in combining farming and tourism in the best possible way. Beatenberg is not a trendy holiday resort with busy shopping streets and loud discos. If you go to Beatenberg it is for peace and relaxation. The nearest tourist city is Interlaken - only 10 km from Beatenberg. There you find shopping facilities and a lot of activities for your leisure time. Beatenberg extends from Lake Thun at an altitude of 556 m to the Niederhorn-Gemmenalphorn-Seefeld area, the highest point of which is 2061 m above sea level. Three of the four parts of the village are spread along the 7 km village street, the fourth is situated at the lakeside. This makes Beatenberg with its 1200 inhabitants the longest village of Europe. Its sunny, wind-sheltered position gives Beatenberg a mild, pleasant climate. The long hours of sunshine (7 hours on the shortest day) and the fresh mountain air make it popular as a spa. However, it is also well-known and popular for family holidays.
Our two main attractions for tourists are the view and the unspoilt countryside. Untouched mountain valleys, breathtaking views, wonderful alpine meadows and bubbling mountain streams warm the hearts of nature-lovers. And all this is situated in the midst of snow-covered mountains and lakes. Beatenberg’s distinctive beauty was already appreciated by princes and emperors in the past during the so-called Belle Epoque era. Crown Prince Frederick of Prussia, the later German Emperor Frederick III, was a welcome guest in Beatenberg.
